If a Pokemon in your party knows or can learn Odor Sleuth, then you can activate it to help you locate hidden items in the overworld.

When you find the hidden item or lose the signal, the terrain effect is removed.
You can unlock the ability to use Odor Sleuth by participating in the "Transposing Trainer" side quest. The friendly illusionist Rarai will show you the technique after you battle her for the second time. Check the walkthrough for details!
